ABOUT PALLADIO The idea for PALLADIO was born at a pub in Chestnut Hill almost 10 years ago when Jay Davidson Susanin was persuaded by his brother Chris to forego a career in law pursue a dream. That dream was to capitalize on Jay’s unusual creative talents, design instincts and interest in personal history. The brothers conceived a niche business for Jay rooted in picture framing and art production –focusing on a sector of the home improvement industry that is often missed. In 2001, PALLADIO opened in a magnificent 1920s bank in Ambler, Pa. that Jay redesigned & renovated. He named his store for the building’s 13 giant Palladian windows. PALLADIO grew steadily for eight years as did its reputation in the surrounding suburban communities. Late in 2009, PALLADIO moved to the charming historic village of Chestnut Hill to embrace the Philadelphia area market. The greatest surprise in PALLADIO’s success has been human emotion and its tie to artwork and framing. In addition to being known as a “better” framing company – which uses the finest molding companies and practices conservation framing – PALLADIO’s real identity comes from Jay’s interest in preserving and presenting personal treasures, creating visual memories, and giving his clients tangible, unique keepsakes that will last for generations. PALLADIO’s newest endeavors are taking personal histories & treasures to the corporate level. Jay is producing the “Halls of History” for several schools, including his alma mater, Franklin & Marshall College. In addition he is currently designing “The Varsity Shop” which will give people access to unique accessories tied to their own schools, clubs, teams and associations. As PALLADIO inches toward its 10th anniversary Jay& his own young family are grateful for his younger brother’s vision, to have had his mother Natalie as his right wing at PALLADIO from day one and for the promising future that lies ahead. |
