Palladio Custom Framing
Jay is a student of history, has a clever & creative imagination and is a conservator of all things material. In addition, as a bit of a Renaissance Man, a globe trotter, a genealogist and a family man – he grasps the importance of life stories and the meaning of things. Consequently, for decades, when he has been asked to frame something of personal, historic or corporate importance – a unique process of design begins. Usually armed with answers to a lot of probing questions and a good sense of his client’s style, Jay designs framed pieces that become masterpieces. He understands period frames, stylistic genres, the grains of wood, the tones of silver & gold, the subtleties of fabrics, the finishes of papers and – above all – the principles of museum quality conservation framing.
From Indira Gandhi’s Wedding Shawl or Pope Pius V’s skull cap to Ben Franklin’s Walking Stick, Funerary correspondence of Jacqueline Kennedy, Tom Brady’s football cleats, whiskers from The Cowardly Lion’s costume or a Civil War snuff box & cufflinks – the team at PALLADIO has handled some outstanding & priceless artifacts and heirlooms. In addition, PALLADIO has worked with amazing oils, antique prints and photographic collections. No matter the subject of a piece, its value or level of technical difficulty – Jay creates smiles. The emotion & pride that is tied to his work truly defines what Jay – and PALLADIO – do every day… to make people happy.
