Jay is a student of history, has a clever & creative imagination and is a conservator of all things material.  In addition, as a bit of a Renaissance Man, a globe trotter, a genealogist and a family man – he grasps the importance of life stories and the meaning of things.  Consequently, for decades, when he has been asked to frame something of personal, historic or corporate importance – a unique process of design begins.  Usually armed with answers to a lot of probing questions and a good sense of his client’s style, Jay designs framed pieces that become masterpieces.  He understands period frames, stylistic genres, the grains of wood, the tones of silver & gold, the subtleties of fabrics, the finishes of papers and – above all – the principles of museum quality conservation framing.
